What We Do
Operation: Safe Community is compromised of 15 research based strategies that are unified by three major categories for an effective and encompassing crime abatement plan.
Smart Policing utilizes law enforcement resources to best prevent and suppress criminal behavior and secure offenders to increase the safety of our communities.
Aggressive Prosecution utilizes Tennessee state laws, resources and processes to most effectively deter the citizens of Memphis and Shelby County from criminal activity as well as aggressively prosecute criminals.
Community Engagement enables law enforcement to work together with neighborhoods, businesses, faith-based organizations, social service agencies and others to prevent, intervene and ultimately reduce criminal activity
Increased public safety will continue to require a diverse group of initiatives that focus on prevention, intervention, juvenile and adult re-entry and prosecution of hardened criminals.
